The Summit of the Future is an international meeting organized by the United Nations (UN), planned for 2024, that aims to address global governance challenges in a rapidly changing world. The summit's main focus is to reimagine multilateralism and strengthen international cooperation in key areas such as peace, security, sustainable development, human rights, digital governance, and global equity. The summit follows the UN Secretary-General António Guterres's "Our Common Agenda" report, which calls for a revitalization of the UN system to address emerging global issues like the climate crisis, geopolitical tensions, digital governance, and inequality. This report also highlights the need for a more inclusive approach to governance, where non-state actors (such as civil society organizations, private sector entities, and young people) have a more prominent role. The Global Digital Compact (GDC) is closely related to the Summit of the Future, as it is one of the key initiatives expected to be adopted and launched during the summit in 2024. The GDC aims to establish a set of shared principles for the governance of digital technologies at a global level, addressing critical issues like digital rights, data governance, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and the digital divide.
