About
The Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) is a global program launched in 2023 by the Government of Denmark and the European Commission under the Team Europe framework. It aims to promote and protect inclusive democratic spaces in the digital age, with a special focus on civil society in the Global South, particularly in countries facing democratic backsliding or civic space restrictions.
Main Objectives
- Empower civil society organizations (including informal movements, women, youth, and marginalized groups) to use digital technologies for democracy promotion.
- Defend and protect these actors against digital threats such as surveillance, disinformation, cyberattacks, and online repression, while strengthening their resilience and digital security.
